3. Summary project

Including a brief introduction to the problem, a brief description of the proposed project, and the specific request for support
If the total project budget is larger that the GRIP maximum of i10.000, clearly state what part of the project you want to admit as GRIP project. This part should be an autonomous part of which a final narrative and financial report can be made for GRIP.

4. Justification/Background

Including a clear statement and analysis of the problem or need . This may include historical aspects, key constraints and opportunities, other efforts to tackle the problem et cetera.
Other important elements are:

  • vision of the applying organisation
  • description of the target group
  • the working- or other relation with other associations .

5. Gender issues

The specific benefits for women and men will have from the results of the project are to be reflected in the proposal. Possible problems related to the participation of women in the project have to be identified and solutions suggested.

6. Environmental issues

If applicable to the project: in what way does the project promote the sustainable use and management of the natural environment?

7. Description of the proposed project

7.1 Goals and objectives
The goal is the long-term desired result to which the project will contribute. Objectives are specific objectives which can be reasonably accomplished by the grant recipient within the scope of the project.

7.2 Outputs

The outputs of the project are the concrete results. This should include an analysis on how the project has worked for the promotion of the recognition of the rights of Indigenous Peoples. There should be a clear relation between the output of the project and the objectives.
The description should include:

  • How many people directly and indirectly will benefit form this project, and:
  • What will the effects of the project be on local level?

7.3 Activities
What activities the project plans to undertake in order to realize the desired output? Give an elaborated explanation of each activity.

7.4 Inputs
Here, all the human resources, material and financial inputs necessary to realize the activities can be listed. It should be made clear which inputs will come form the recipient organisation. If other donors have been approached or are involved in the project, this should be indicated here.

8. Budget and budget note

* The project budget should be organized according the following standard lien items (with both detailed and related to project activities, and total costs showing).

  • allowances/per diems
  • professional fees (GRIP doesn't support experts from outside the region)
  • transport
  • travelling expenses
  • communications (telephone, fax, E-mail, regular mail, photocopying)
  • other office running costs
  • equipment
  • other materials related to project
  • administrative costs
  • others
  • unforseen (max. 5% of project costs)

(Costs are to be mentioned in local currency as well as in US$ or €)

* The budget must show enough detail. For example: a sum budgeted for travel expenses should be specified according to the various trips that are planned, the number of persons travelling. An amount budgeted for salaries should show details on the number of persons, her/his position and the period involved.

* Also, the relation with the planned activities must be clear for all proposed costs.

The GRIP Commission would like to stress that the total budget of the GRIP Fund is rather limited. Please keep in mind that the more you are able to limit your project budget to the necessary minimum the more indigenous peoples projects GRIP will be able to support.

9. Time frame

This is the period for when the project activities are planned. The execution of the project can start with the payment of the first instalment.
If there are is a special reason to start project activities in/or before a certain period, this should be stated in the proposal.

10. Monitoring and evaluation

Indicate here the indicators for the monitoring and evaluation of project.
Also mention who will carry out the monitoring and/or evaluation of the project
